The Bridge has been recognized by The National Association of State Alcohol and Substance Abuse Directors, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and the U.S. Department of Justice. In 1998, The Bridge was awarded funding from The Annie E. Casey Foundation to support training in a family-focused, community-based, strength-based service model, the first such comprehensive program in Georgia. This transformation of The Bridge’s program was so successful that the State replicated the model and implemented a three-year training project for similar facilities across Georgia.
In 2001, The Bridge had the honor of being chosen as one of Cirque du Soleil’s first worldwide partners in implementing Cirque du Monde circus arts workshops as recreation program.
The Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children (GAHSC) honored three of The Bridge staff in 2004. Executive Director Tom Russell received honor for Administrator of The Year; former Therapist Michael Frazier was awarded the Social Service Worker Award, and former Clinical Director Doug Joiner was bestowed with the Gail Bayes "Vision For Children" Award. The awards continued for The Bridge at the 2005 GAHSC conference when Associate Director Twilynn Jourdain-Smith was honored as Administrator of the Year.
The Bridge and NFL Veteran Chuck Wiley’s 99 Wayz to Win Mentoring Program were recognized by the Mutual of America Foundation with their national 2005 Community Partnership Award. |
