Support Volunteer

Volunteers are a key part of the community at The Bridge; they bring new energy, diversity, resources and skills that our programs could not singularly provide. Your time can truly make a positive impact, laying the foundation for residents at The Bridge to return to their families and communities.

Become a Volunteer
To volunteer at The Bridge, you must be at least 21 years old, attend an orientation and pass a criminal background check. Orientations are held on the third Saturdayof every month or can be scheduled individually.

To sign up for an orientation, contact Sarah Cadmus at 404 446-1526 or scadmus@thebridge-atlanta.org.

Check out our new and improved Volunteer Calendar!

Volunteer opportunities include

Individual Volunteer Projects
After completing an orientation and background check, volunteers can attend any project listed on The Bridge’s Volunteer Calendar. In addition, individual volunteers are invited to join The Bridge at campus-wide celebrations like the Spring and Winter formals and holiday celebrations.

Build Your Own Project
We encourage our volunteers to share their individual skills, knowledge and passions with the residents at The Bridge. After completing an orientation and background check, volunteers wishing to build their own project meet individually with the Development & Community Outreach Manager to determine the schedule and logistics for your project. Past projects created by volunteers include yoga classes, a soap-making workshop and a soccer clinic.

Civic and Corporate Volunteer Projects
Groups of volunteers are always welcome at The Bridge. For a one-time project with your group, an orientation is not necessary. The Development staff will work with your group to organize a project that fits your team’s goals and needs. Daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available.

Group Mentoring - NEW!
The majority of our residents have limited family connections to support them in their treatment. Mentors play an extremely important role in the lives of our residents by providing individual encouragement and friendship. Mentors must also complete the orientation and background check before being matched with a group of up to four residents based on mutual interests and personalities. Mentors are asked to commit to at least two weekends a month for three months. Mentor groups meet every other Saturday from 1pm - 3pm at The Bridge, where our Volunteer and Recreation teams provide a planned group activity that complements our residential and clinical programming. The Bridge is also developing a special mentoring program to support students receiving substance abuse counseling; sessions are held two weekday evenings a month.
