Volunteers are a key part of the community at The Bridge; they bring new energy, diversity, resources and skills that our programs could not singularly provide. Your time can truly make a positive impact, laying the foundation for residents at The Bridge to return to their families and communities.
Become a Volunteer
To volunteer at The Bridge, you must be at least 21 years old, attend an orientation and pass a criminal background check. Orientations are held on the third Saturday of every month or can be scheduled individually.
To sign up for an orientation, contact Sarah Cadmus at 404 446-1526 or scadmus@thebridge-atlanta.org.
Build Your Own Project
We encourage our volunteers to share their individual skills, knowledge and passions with the residents at The Bridge. After completing an orientation and background check, volunteers wishing to build their own project meet individually with the Development & Community Outreach Manager to determine the schedule and logistics for your project. Past projects created by volunteers include: yoga classes, soap-making workshop and a soccer clinic.
Civic and Corporate Volunteer Projects
Groups of volunteers are always welcome at The Bridge. For a one-time project with your group, an orientation is not necessary. The Development staff will work with your group to organize a project that fits your team’s goals and needs. Daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available.
Mentoring
Approximately 70% of our residents have no family connections, no parents or extended family to support them in their recovery and healing. Mentors play an extremely important role in the lives of our residents by providing individual encouragement and friendship. Mentors must also complete the orientation and background check before working with our clinical staff to be paired with a resident. Individual mentors’ schedules and commitment availability are considered when matching mentors to a resident.
